STS Company Develops New Resin for 17” and 30” Casting socks


The STS Company of Mill Valley California, has developed a new polyurethane resin for it’s 17”and 30” tubular fiberglass casting socks. The new resin is a creamier resin that will maintain the softness of the fiberglass roll allowing it to be unrolled very easily. According to the developers, the new resin will more closely resemble the properties of plaster but without the side effects of prolonged set up and the mess created in usage. The cure time is 2-3 minutes and the finished negatives impressions will be more rigid then the previous version. Negative molds will be ideal for the practitioner seeking alternatives to fiberglass rolls or plaster bandages. Because no overlapping is created during the application, the finished positive molds will require less finish work and will certainly be more accurate.
