STS Becomes APMA Corporate Sponsor

The APMA is pleased to add Synthetic Tubular Sock Company (STS) to its roster of corporate members. Corporate members support APMA through unrestricted giving, or may chose to direct their support to any of a variety of specific initiatives. With support from the corporate community, APMA continues to promote podiatry and good foot health through numerous venues. STS founders Peter Graf, DPM and Richard Stess, DPM, have practiced together for over 30 years and share a family history rooted in podiatry. Their fathers were podiatrists who each practiced more than 40 years. The groundwork for STS was laid in 1995 when Drs. Graf and Stess, after an exhausting day of seeing patients, were sitting around looking at the plaster on their trousers, shoes and floors of their office and said to each other "There must be a better way". So the two devised a method to develop casting products specific to the podiatry community, enabling their fellow practitioners to be more efficient in their use of time and to reduce the unbelievable mess that resulted from casting for a custom shoe, foot orthotic device or ankle-foot orthosis.

STS has become a pioneering leader in innovative casting products that benefit both practitioner and patients when casting for orthotic and prosthetic devices. The company's product line features innovative water curable resin impregnated tubular fiberglass casting socks, fitted polyester casting socks and slipper casting socks designed to assist the practitioner in obtaining accurate negative anatomical impressions. Drs. Graf and Stess are "proud that we as DPM's have developed products that can make our fellow podiatrists more efficient and make better use of their time."

The two podiatrists are continually enhancing product development technologies through state-of-the-art research development initiatives. They have put together an extensive network of distributors who work in concert with feedback from fellow podiatrists. This led to the introduction of the STS Slipper Sock that is revolutionizing the manner in which DPM's obtain negative models of the foot and the Ankle and Mid-Leg socks that are used in obtaining Supra Malleolar AFO's. The company now distributes its products throughout the United States, Canada and Western Europe.

Both doctors felt it was important for them to grow the company enough so that they could start giving back to the profession, and are proud to become corporate members of APMA. To learn more about the STS and its products, visit www.stssox.com
